Book Review - Cozy Minimalist Home

This book teaches you how to have a minimal home with heart

Cozy Minimalist Home: More Style, Less Stuff by [Smith, Myquillyn]

The Cozy Minimalist Home by Myquillyn Smith (Aka The Nester)

In her first book ‘The Nesting Place’ Myquillyn Smith gaves endless tips, simple steps, and practical advice, with actionable encouragement to give you the courage to take risks with your home. It was all about the beauty in the lived-in and loved-on and welcoming that imperfection wholeheartedly, told from the backdrop of her own journey in her rented home. She is most famous for her Blog The Nester which is a real glimpse into the mind of an interior design explorer.  I really appreciate an honest blogger who admits to their hoarding piles of things and actually admitting to being a human, your home is not a show-home it is a backdrop for your life.

Her latest book ‘Cozy Minimalist Home’ she teaches a mindful approach to pare back your home, the theory is that minimalism isn’t about going without or achieving a particular new, modern style. It is about achieving whatever style you wish with the fewest possible items and keeping the items that truly mean something to you. It is not the brutalist and cold minimalism that has been the dominating fad over the last decade that is utterly impractical and unachievable for anyone.

In ‘Cozy Minimalist Home’, Myquillyn talks you through how to create a home you're proud of in a way that honours your personal priorities, budget, and style. It champions You as the creator of your own home and the intricate relationship our home has with every other aspect of your life. This is not just a simple declutter your life book, though it does tick that box, it is an in-depth look into what your home, the items in your home and your personal style mean to you. This foolproof process of deconstructing each room by step to create a pretty, practical and personal space makes for wonderful reading.  You come away from this book feeling wholesome and empowered, the title Cozy is definitely right on the money – the entire feeling of the book is Cozy. You will look at everything in your space differently, and embrace the imperfections! You will reassess everything from furniture to décor with people, priorities and purpose in mind, this is a book that will teach anyone to create a beautiful home.
