Jungle Fever!

With Rio on the way and summer hotting up here are some ways you can add a bit of Brazilian flavour into your home styling. You'll be seeing animal prints jumping out everywhere exotic, bold colours appearing alongside bamboo, grass weaves and hessian materials. Tropical styling is all about lush greens, sun kissed brass and an overall sense of fun. This is look that is particularly at home in livingrooms and guest bedrooms, and on occasion even a daring bathroom.

When styling a topical look your natural colours are vital! Greens contrasted against stark white, moody teals mingling with rich earthy browns and even hints of shadowy black really help build that rainforest pallet. Black glossy furniture contrasted against stark white walls and green accessories can create a very stylish grown up look. If you're looking for something bolder use adhesive wallpaper like that above to transform you interior into a tropical paradise without making the year round commitment to your palm frond fantasy. Bring out your wild side with animal print upholstery to make a bold statement and a more permeant feature.

Add a funky pop of paradise with motifs such as flamingos, monkeys or pineapples, you will see these everywhere this summer. I guarantee it will make you smile!  A pop of bright colour helps break up the greenery and makes your interior feel fun, fresh and interesting. Little accents like lights are something that can easily be hidden away in the cooler months to redress your space, when doing a themed interior its important to keep it fluid throughout the year. Other motifs worth exploring are palm fronds, rattan lattices and tropical florals such as hibiscus flower designs. Combine these with a few well placed wicker baskets, a sea grass rug and maybe some indoor plants such as succulents or orchids to really immerse your interior in the tropics.

Its all about the summer lounge this season, get outside, your garden is just another room to your home. All be it an often forgotten room... Take advantage of it in our short British summer season by dressing it up with lushes green accessories! Blankets are always a good idea as these can be used to cuddle up with when the party carries on late into the night or when its piddling down with rain and your other half is insisting its the perfect weather for a bbq... Fill your spaces with flowers favourites of mine are passion flowers and honeysuckles, as not only are they super easy to grow even in small spaces, they create show-stopping displays of fragrant flowers all summer long.
