Woo! I survived the first month of 2017. After the horrors
of 2016 I’m actually a little surprised January wasn’t worse.
I started the year off with a bang. I went to Amsterdam, and
it was beautiful carnage. New Year in Amsterdam was simultaneously terrifying
and exhilarating; I was totally out of my comfort zone. There were drunk people
everywhere, ridiculous loud music and all it was all crammed into those impossibly
tiny streets. Seemingly everyone was setting off fireworks and lighting bonfires,
it was total sensory overload. People. Noise.
Chaos. And then... It all just settled down.
By the morning, apart
from piles of red firecracker paper and the lingering smell of ash, it returned
to the slow beautiful city you can stare out the window at for hours at. Coffee and Stroopwaffles while you watch the
world go by is pure bliss. I was quite apprehensive about going because of just
how busy I knew it would be, but it turned out that throwing yourself in at the
deep end can be really fun. I can’t help but smile when I think of that
holiday.
In other news I also did dry January which is something I’ve
never done before, but as it was something my dad always did I felt like
carrying on the tradition. In all honesty I found it very easy, I don’t really
tend to drink that much since I moved to London, maybe I’m getting old. That being said, Prosecco is always the answer.
I’m excited for the next few months as my Mim is going to be
moving into a new house on the 1st of March. I cannot wait to have a
new project to play with. Being trapped renting in London I can’t do my own
property projects, so I have to live vicariously through anyone how will let me
loose on theirs! So watch this space, Victorian school house here we come…
